Read with caution

With the craziness in the world, in 2022, I've been looking for a place re-explore my childhood on the internet. I remember a simpler time. A fun time. A time where the internet was a place to escape.

Now it's a place of subscriptions, boring looking websites that lack personality, and lets not forget, social media giants that only care about how they can advertise to you.

The days of coming home from school, rushing to the computer and hoping that your parents don't want to make a phone call just so you can get on the internet and start chatting with friends. You were probably using MSN or AOL Messenger, or if you were in the nerdy (cool) club via IRC. Or if you a little younger maybe you heard about a new cool HTML/CSS trick you could do on your myspace or bebo page.

Those days, are unfortunately over.

Thinking back to those epic times, yes I was much younger, yes this is probably nostalga. But at the same time I can't help but feel that the internet is now missing so much of what made it.

If the internet wasn't fun to use in the late 90s early 00s then would it of become as popular as it has? Maybe for business but I not so sure about for personal use.

I can remember all my non techy friends from back then getting excited about going home and playing around with how their social profiles looked. Now from what I see from my 2 children and what I hear their friends are up to, it's not this.

It's now how they have bought a new skin on roblox or fortnite.
