I moved from 1Password to VaultWarden.

Why?

Because sometimes it just makes sense to own and host things yourself.

Some reasons:

• The constant price increases.
• The reliance on north american tech companies.
• The increase in usage of AI potentially leading to increased job loss.
• Generated slop that no one cares about.
• and any of the other points you've probably heard a 1000 times.

I've already seen the arguments against doing this for password managers because of potential data loss.

That's fine as every device you connect is a backup. If your server dies, is your phone, computer, laptop going to die at the exact same time?

And honestly it's really not that much to just take a periodic export and store that on some external storage, or if your old school a CD or if you are really old school a floppy disk.
